Job Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join their team. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, enjoys technical challenges, and thrives in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.
In this role, you will support the Mechanical Production Team Leader by manufacturing, generating, and repairing components for robotic systems and equipment. You will be responsible for quality control of parts and personal productivity in a high-mix, low-volume production setting. Adaptability and a proactive approach to learning are essential for success.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate 3-Axis CNC machines (F1rst 300) to create new parts and perform first article inspections.
- Conduct quality control inspections using precision measurements, making program and tooling adjustments to maintain specifications.
- Operate and set up manual milling or lathe machines for new parts or repairs.
- Modify or repair existing parts using 3-Axis CNC or manual machines to meet provided specifications.
- Assemble and disassemble robotic equipment to complete tasks and support department projects.
- Program using GibbsCAM software.
- Clean and repair damaged robotic equipment as needed.
- Provide solutions to unique manufacturing challenges.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace in the Machine and Fabrication Shop.
Experience & Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience independently operating 3-Axis CNC mills, including setup, fixturing, and first article inspections.
- 3+ years of experience using manual mills and lathes to produce precision parts from technical drawings.
- Proficiency in mechanical detail and assembly drawings interpretation.
- Strong work ethic with a focus on quality and efficiency.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve team goals.
- Skilled with hand tools and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Assets
- Knowledge and competence in CNC fabrication processes and equipment.
- Experience with 4-axis CNC machining and setup.
- Understanding of machining technical and exotic materials.
- Experience with induction brazing, MIG/TIG welding, sinker EDM processes.
- Knowledge of epoxy/urethane resin casting.
- Experience with CAD/CAM programming (GibbsCAM or equivalent).
Education
- College diploma or degree in a technical or technology-related field.
