• Systems Engineer (PMO)

    • The Systems Engineer is a member of the Project Management Office (PMO) within the Technology Center (TC), the R&D department responsible for developing inspection systems. The TC operates in a matrix organization across two locations: Tricht (the Netherlands) and Toronto (Canada). The Systems Engineer reports to the Manager PMO and plays a pivotal role in project delivery, working closely with various engineering disciplines.

      The Systems Engineer acts as the key link between end-user Subject Matter Experts, engineering disciplines, and the project manager. The role involves capturing requirements accurately, creating and evaluating design concepts, flagging feasibility risks, and managing Work and Product Breakdown Structures. The Systems Engineer is involved in design reviews, system integration testing, and overseeing technical project documentation. Additionally, they support system production and field deployment, working collaboratively with the Project Manager to ensure successful project deliverables.

      Key Responsibilities:

      Project Startup:

      • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify objectives and needs.
      • Contribute to requirements documentation and management for the complete system.
      • Assist the Project Manager in project planning and budgeting.

      Project Execution:

      • Focus on interfaces between domains and overall system design.
      • Create and manage DFMEA, PFMEA, and other appropriate tools.
      • Develop and manage system design verification, planning, and reporting (DVP&R).
      • Maintain architectural continuity and obtain leadership approval for deviations.
      • Work on system architecture and create sub-system target specifications.
      • Assist in generating work breakdown structures and detailed cost and time estimates.
      • Manage technical issues related to interfaces between disciplines and the overall system.
      • Source, order, and manage parts, ensuring timely delivery and quality control.
      • Assist with assembly of sub-systems and test setups during concept and prototyping phases.
      • Test, analyze, and verify the performance of sub-systems and the complete system as per DVP&R.
      • Participate in weekly project meetings and ad hoc meetings.
      • Drive and execute system integration and validation testing.
      • Generate and manage system documentation and review technical/design documentation.
      • Suggest improvements for existing tools and processes within the R&D group.
      • Provide progress updates during meetings and as requested by the Project Manager.
      • Prepare and transfer the manufacturing package, including acceptance authorization.
      • Support Factory and User Acceptance Testing.

       

       

      Project Close-Out:

      • Participate in project close-out meetings and contribute to lessons learned.
      • Assist the Project Manager in preparing close-out materials, presentations, and obtaining acceptance signatures.
      • Support the global team with the introduction of new tools and services.

      Skills and Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Science.
      • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a multidisciplinary product development environment.
      • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
      • Familiarity with Systems Engineering processes and tooling (e.g., Incose certification) or willingness to learn.
      • Experience in requirements engineering and product development processes.
      • Experience in systems and system integration testing.
      • Team player with the ability to connect easily with specialists from other disciplines.
      • Practical, hands-on approach with a proactive, results-oriented mindset.
      • Basic understanding of quality tools.
      • Self-starter with a fast-learning ability and enjoys new challenges.
      • Excellent negotiation and conflict management skills.
      • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
      • Forward-thinking, proactive, and capable of anticipating and mitigating failures.
