Our Client, a leading Mortgage Lender in the GTA, is looking to hire a Director of Underwriting to join their team. This is an amazing place where you can get hands on experience from end to end and strengthen your knowledge and experience in the Commercial Real Estate space!

      Location: Onsite – Toronto (Bay Street)

      What you will do in a day:

      • Lead and develop the Underwriting team, including new underwriter training.
      • Maintain TOP underwriting quality in loan summary submissions.
      • Manage the underwriting and funding process, including resource allocation, deal prioritization, and timely submissions.
      • Ensure quality control and consistent risk assessments on loan applications.
      • Act as the primary contact for Investors during application adjudication.
      • Verify due diligence materials and address discrepancies.
      • Assess applicant creditworthiness and recommend risk mitigations.
      • Prepare commitment letters and support deal structure changes.
      • Provide underwriting materials for syndication.
      • Liaise with investors, solicitors, and consultants for timely funding.
      • Review and improve Cost Consultant progress reports.
      • Confirm loan disbursements and AML compliance.
      • Maintain positive relationships with investors.
      • Deliver high-quality customer service and manage a high volume of files.
      • Stay updated on industry trends.
      • Collaborate with support staff and management.
      • Perform assigned duties.

       What You Bring to The Team:

      • Finance with a specialization in Commercial Real Estate or Land Development, or equivalent (mandatory).
      • Accumulate 3-5 years of relevant experience in the real estate lending sector (mandatory).
      • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen eye for detail.
      • Proficient in creating well-structured Loan Summaries and other necessary documents.
      • Apply analytical and critical thinking abilities effectively, even in high-pressure situations, while managing work priorities.
      • Exhibit strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
      • Capable of setting priorities, establishing deadlines, and efficient time management.
      • Display a robust customer-focused approach and contribute to evolving client-centric strategies.
      • Possession of an MBA, CFA, or CSC certification is considered advantageous
