      Our client, InVintory, is a fast-growing, next-stage start-up that’s disrupting the status quo of the wine industry. They’ve built a platform for wine collectors and enthusiasts to better track and manage their wine collection.  Early success has stimulated their growth, increasing the team’s ambition greatly. As a result, they have a rare opening for a talented VP Engineering to join their team as they broaden and expand their goals.

      The team at InVintory is experienced, brilliant, positive, supportive, energetic, and fun. Working core business hours in EST, the team is based mainly in Canada, and you can work from your home. You will work closely with the Chief Product Officer, setting strategic direction, driving strong execution, and ultimately delivering amazing product experiences. This is a hands-on back-end (with some front-end) software engineering role, leading a team of 10+ techs.

      What you will be doing:

      • Work with the CPO to scale the platform, oversee front-end and back-end development teams and their projects
      • Lead and participate in the code review process, to learn and expand technical knowledge
      • Grow and manage the team, give feedback to team members and help them reach their goals
      • Design strategies for future development projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources
      • Collaborate with the product leadership team to plan and estimate upcoming work, set goals, and communicate delivery timelines
      • Work with product and design leaders to deliver amazing product experiences
      • Review and be responsible for quality and security of the code
      • Reduce technical debt with proper design patterns

      What you bring:

      • At least 5+ years of progressive experience as a Software Engineer responsible for designing development strategies based on organizational objectives and resources
      • Must have strong hands-on experience in back-end development (actively coding), and a solid understanding of front-end development, you love to dive into the code and be hands-on when it’s required
      • Proven leadership skills that enable you to mentor team members on coding practices, design principles, and implementation patters that lead to high-quality solutions
      • Good understanding of agile methodologies
      • Leadership abilities and a strategic mind
      • BSc/MSc in Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant field
      • Curiosity and unusual depth. You know how to keep people moving forward, sharing, and developing ideas and solutions, because you can’t help but put your heart into what you do.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

      Strong experience with the following key technologies: NodeJS (or similar), Postgresql & Google Cloud experience, Elastic-search is strongly desired
