    • INFRASTRUCTURE/NETWORK SPECIALIST

      As the Infrastructure/Network Specialist you will join a team of talented professionals within one of Canada’s largest and most successful law firms. You will be responsible for the integrity of information firm wide, while developing short and long term strategies for network optimization.

      You are adept at managing all aspects of the secure Infrastructure, including design, availability, reliability, performance, monitoring and security of the infrastructure hardware, network, telephony, backup, storage and cloud technologies.

      WHAT YOU WILL DO IN A DAY

      • Providing daily support of IP systems, Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity VM systems
      • Optimizing the availability of network systems architectures to deliver cost-effective improvements that, in turn, deliver tangible business benefits
      • Maintaining infrastructure equipment to be at the latest version unless exemption approval has been obtained from management
      • Keeping abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, and advising management of their strategic value to the Firm, Introducing and integrating new infrastructure and cloud technologies
      • Implementing and maintaining business continuity technologies, policies and procedures to ensure the Firm’s systems and information are recoverable as per established standards
      • Ensuring network infrastructure & related platforms are available and performing at peek
      • Monitoring and analyzing alerts and logs to identify potential issues/threats, applying operating system security updates and change configuration management

      Additionally:

      • Providing answers to and assisting peers and users with technical queries
      • Troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure problems as per established SLAs
      • Escalating, in a timely manner, any issues requiring management’s attention
      • Installing and configuring new hardware, software, storage and virtual servers
      • Adhering to IT policies and procedures
      • Making recommendations on process improvement
      • Remediating the threats to network infrastructure identified from security advisory reports
      • Providing 24/7 on-call support for network-related infrastructures on a rotational basis
      • Maintaining and updating infrastructure diagrams
      • Keeping documentation up to date to meet ISO27001 standards

      WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

      • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field
      • Minimum of three years of experience in an infrastructure services role
      • Experience in telephony technologies, MPLS, Cisco switches and routers
      • Working experience in network administration, routing protocols and network NAC
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team-based environment
      • Ability to perform firmware upgrade to switches
      • Working knowledge of VMware virtualization, SAN Storage, Microsoft Server OS and AD
      • Ability to prepare requirements, design and schedule time for assigned projects
      • Strong ability to establish and maintain relationships with users and vendors
      • Ability to implement the necessary tools to proactively monitor, troubleshoot and, where necessary, assist and provide support to third parties to solve network connectivity problems • Working knowledge of wireless, IDS/IPS, firewall and RSA
      • Ability to provide daily support on Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Windows Services
      • Datacentre experience, including cabling and installation, would be an asset

       

      There may be a requirement for periodic weekend and after-hour work, depending on business needs.
